Two years old. Ah, the changes that come with each and every new stage of life. As we embark onto the next chapter “Life With a Two Year Old”, I anticipate watching our little one as he continues to develop a personality and opinions of his own. One of our first major transitions into this new stage of life is changing over from a crib to a “big boy bed”.
WOW, I didn’t think it was going to be so hard on me to watch his crib, glider, and changing table be taken out of the room. The memories of the last two years were flowing through my mind. I may have choked up a few times, but it is time to move on. New memories will be made and I am looking forward to them.
Where will he sleep now? Yes, this was our current conundrum. Should we go buy a bed, change the crib into a toddler bed…or act on the idea we had been playing around with? We decided on the latter…we were going to make him a train bed. (and by “we” I mean my husband) The measurements were then taken, the materials were purchased (from Home Depot), and the new bed began to take shape.
Yes, this was starting to turn out even better than I expected. Everything went perfectly….minus staining the bed inside the house, the fumes were intolerable.

A little shelf inside the bed…perfect! |
The final product…AMAZING. How my husband did this with no pattern, no instructions, no anything besides the wheels that turn in his mind is absolutely crazy to me.
I do not think Lil’ Man will have any problems going to bed…it just may take him awhile to go to sleep.
